Why Malawi Paliative ECHO?
Highland Hospice has a long standing relationship with health professionals in Malawi, including exchange visits and knowledge sharing around palliative care. This ongoing connection with the region, through our partners, has resulted in plans to investigate whether ECHO could work for rural communities in Blantyre.
Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS) has recently developed a new qualification in Palliative Health Care for a cohort of approximately 25 students. This group of learners have now returned to their substantive posts in rural villages around Blantyre and the teaching staff at KUHeS would like to use the ECHO model to provide additional insights to the cohort while giving them an opportunity to discuss anonymous complex cases from their own locale.
This is a great opportunity for everyone to be teacher and everyone to be a learner and the SCfPE team will look forward to gaining some experience in supporting partners overseas.
Who is it for?
This project will be open to a small cohort of 25 alumni in from the KUHeS department of family medicine. Sessions will be scheduled in CAT time zone.
