"Providing high-quality, personalised care that is consistent, safe, and meaningful, is the top priority for our health and social care services in Scotland today."
The Scottish Government has been implementing a healthcare framework designed for adults living in care homes in Scotland called My Health, My Care, My Home. This framework contains recommendations on a broad range of relevant issues in care, with the aim of creating a more holistic and person centred approach to care in Scotland.
As part of this framework, we received some funding from the Scottish Government at the beginning of 2023 to look at integrating Project ECHO with Care Homes as an education option for social care staff. We tested four health and social care partnership areas to see what works and the further supports needed for care homes. The University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) carried out a funded study for our ECHO Care Homes project and study relating to this work was published in 2025 and can be found here.
The Scottish Government’s adult social care improvement team within the Directorate for Social Care & National Care Service Development have produced the following videos to illustrate how the implementation of My Health, My Care, My Home can support the healthcare needs of people living in care homes.
