CHAS
Childrens Hospices Across Scotland is one of Scotland’s largest children’s charities. For over 25 years we have been offering a full family support service for babies, children and young people with Life-Shortening Conditions.
Why did we join ECHO?
There are approximately 16,700 babies, children and young people in Scotland living with a Life-Shortening Condition. In order to reach all those who require our support we need to collaborate with and support multi-professional and multi-agency teams to deliver the care that is needed by the children and their families. Project ECHO methodology allows us to share our knowledge and experience with professionals and to support them to become more confident and competent to deliver palliative and end of life care. The technology allows to all health boards and local authorities ensuring CHAS is everywhere across Scotland
Current and Planned Work
As at January 2022 we have three external and two internal communities in progress. The externals are Children’s Community Nurses Network, Young Adults: Transition & Beyond and Paediatric Palliative Medicine Network. Internally we have Grand Round and Trainee ANP groups running.
We are currently developing a Neonatal Palliative Care Community and reviewing our Introduction to Paediatric Palliative Care programme.
